Columbus
Born in a weaver’s family in Genoa, Portugal Christopher Columbus grew into a man who discovered the new world, which was named as America. He was a brave explorer, who sailed across the Atlantic, amidst all odds and proved that the earth was round. While trying to find a direct water route from the west of Europe to Asia, he accidently landed on the land now called as the America.
On August of 1492, Columbus and his crew sailed in 3 ships called Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria. They reached Bahamian islands and then he set off searching for precious stones, gold’s, spices, etc. But luck did not favor him and so he returned to Spain leaving his crew behind in America. After sailing through the Atlantic for the third time, he went back to America and made a settlement with his brother, leading to the formation of the new world.
He was the only explorer, who set out into the seas with much hope and determination of going round the world. He broke the pre-Columbian belief of the earth being a flat rectangular plate. Though he is no more his explorations and name stands still amidst all odds in our history.
